NOVA Chemicals’ DYLARK®‚
S/MA a preferred resin of plastics designers, engineers and processors
for automotive applications. DYLARK is specified for its high-tensile
and flexural strength, lot-to-lot consistency and physical properties.
The proven performance of DYLARK in automotive applications continues
into its fourth decade.
“DYLARK is the most cost-effective solution for soft instrument
panels. It displays superior foam adhesion, outstanding modulus, dimensional
stability over a very wide temperature range and great processability,”
said Ron Hornack, Vice President and General Manager of Global Automotive
for NOVA Chemicals.
Soft instrument panels are a laminate construction of DYLARK substrate,
polyurethane foam and PVC skin. During the past three decades, DYLARK
substrates were installed in more than 200 million soft instrument panels
worldwide. Currently, every Ford Taurus, Toyota Camry and Chevrolet S-10
truck manufactured in North America contains a DYLARK instrument panel
substrate.
Beyond instrument panels, DYLARK is penetrating other automotive segments,
such as audio components, consoles, center stacks, radio buckets and a
variety of structural brackets. NOVA Chemicals continues to develop new
market opportunities in seat backs, load floors, door panels and air bag
modules.
“We have a robust new product slate that continues to provide
value to our customers,” said Hornack.
DYLARK’s reach is not limited to North America. Its use continues
to grow with European automobile manufacturers. Through advanced technical
innovation with NOVA Chemicals’ European customers, DYLARK is rapidly
becoming the leading product for soft instrument panel applications.
“DYLARK designs fulfill the increasing European requirements on
the plastic components of a dashboard assembly by meeting environmental
requirements and recent legislation for vehicle occupant safety,”
said Michael Downs, NOVA Chemicals’ Director of DYLARK in Europe.
“As European automobile manufacturers enter foreign markets, such
as the United States and Asia, it is vital that a proven standard of global
technology be adopted. DYLARK provides this technology to European automobile
manufacturers.”
